How to convert file from HEIC to JPG
We all enjoy taking pictures with our iPhones and sharing them with others, don’t we? Well, if you use a DSLR or other professional camera, you are probably aware that a single, high-quality picture can consume up to 25MB of storage. A DSLR photograph of this quality would be this size, and iPhone photos are no different. Additionally, each iPhone image uses up a substantial amount of capacity, and believe me when I say that having iPhone storage problems is a field you would not want to play in. If your iPhone doesn’t always have enough storage, it won’t operate as effectively as it should.
Apple has been using a hybrid HEIC format to store photos on the iPhone since iOS 11 was released. While maintaining image quality, photographs in this format take up significantly less space than JPEG images. The HEIC format thus offers the best of both worlds. However, some expert users may have trouble sending the image to their PC or Mac for editing. They all search for methods to convert HEIC to JPEG as a result. This option is incorporated into iPhones, and today I’ll explain how you can adjust the settings to suit your needs.
How can I convert a HEIC file to a JPG?
- Visit Settings > Camera > Formats on your iPhone.
- For JPEG format, select “Most Compatible,” and for HEIC format, select “High Efficiency.”
- Go to Settings > Photos > Transfer to Mac or PC to get the best of both worlds. Toggle to “Automatic.”
- Once you select Automatic, you can send JPEG-formatted HEIC files from your iPhone to your PC or Mac.
Now that these options are available, you can choose the best one for your job from among them. Although I personally prefer HEIC, if you’re a pro and want to edit photos in JPEG, go for it. Additionally, the Photos App for Mac and Windows allows you to convert any HEIC-formatted files you have exported to your computer into JPEG files. Simply select the appropriate format from the dropdown list by clicking on Export.
