How to beat Zhang Rang and his clone army
Enter Zhang Rang’s battle arena, and you’ll see his clones. As Wo Long insisted on using the same camera technique as Demon’s Souls and the original Nioh, you must lock on to an opponent to hit them. In a room full of enemies, they may shoot you in the back and hit you with critical blows as you focus on one at a time. That’s what makes this battle so annoying.
Here’s the deal when it comes to fighting Zhang Rang. The actual McCoy has no little red life bar over his head, making him simple to see. Zhang Rang’s spirit gauge drops as you kill clones, making it simpler to fill the red section and stun him for a strategic strike. Yet, pursuing him while his clones are active is unwise. That will have you beaten to death before you realize it.
Zhang Rang’s clones are weak enemies. They’ll attack you with weapons, energy balls, and critical hits. Because you’ll get struck, all their strikes inflict little harm. Many. Take them down as the combat starts. After the conflict starts, I start with the left-corner clone. Choose one and corner him immediately. Hit him with anything. If you deflect their critical blows, your contextual attack will immediately kill them.

Wizards should utilize AOE attacks. Try to eliminate them individually. You may want to target the clones assaulting your AI companion since he will help out. Take them down and leave enough healing for the sorcerer. Jumping helps evade attacks and energy balls. Keep some clones alive.
Killing all the clones changes Zhang Rang’s moveset. He spins. If you wait too long to get his spirit down and perform a critical hit, he will revive his clones and attack you in a massive wave that will likely kill you. He will revive all his clones after your critical strike. Killing them decreases his spirit cap; therefore, kills the next wave of clones and repeats. Another way exists.
Three’s company
Zhang Rang won’t call new clones or change his moveset as long as one clone is alive. Keep three clones alive if your AI companion is alive. As the clones are weak, your AI companion can kill one or two of them alone. You don’t want Zhang Rang on the ropes and your teammate killing the final clone to fill the room again.
Focusing on Zhang Rang won’t make things simple. You’ll hardly have time to attack him since he teleports. Wizardry spells are fast, long-range, and cause spirit damage. You don’t want him around. He utilizes his weapon, energy balls, and critical blows like his clones, but he has two terrible techniques they don’t. They are devastating.

The most frequent is Zhang Rang summoning purple mist that damages you if you’re close. Jump away when you see him do this. If you’re slow, it’ll strike you again. If this happens, block, which might still drain your health. Use hit-and-run techniques to avoid him. Even one hit is better than restarting the fight.
His other move generates an electric field. This will hit you if you’re nearby. It may kill you in one hit, so get away immediately. Avoid this assault. Otherwise, keep your AI teammate alive since Zhang Rang will often focus on him and offer you free bullets. Be cautious, and he’ll die. That’s enough to defeat Zhang Rang in Wo Long.
