House of the Dragon star Emily Carey was scared of the show’s sex scenes
The September 11 episode of House of the Dragon, King of the Narrow Sea, had a lot of sex, including one with Alicent Hightower actress Emily Carey and King Viserys actor Paddy Considine. She told Newsweek in an interview that she was “scared” to do the scenes because of how violent and intense they were.
Emily Carey began House of the Dragon when she was 17 years old. A kissing and sex sequence with Considine that took place in King of the Narrow Sea was the first scene she read from the scripts. She was “concerned.” But, it scared me, because at that point I still hadn’t met Paddy, I didn’t know how much of a joy he was and how easy he was going to make [the scene], and all I saw was, you know, a 47-year-old man, and me. I was a bit concerned.”
The Star of the House of the Dragon Emily Carey was 17 years old at the time. She had just turned 18 when filming for the Game of Thrones prequel began. However intense, it required planning. Like her co-star Milly Alcock, who plays little Rhaenyra, she was much too young to see the original series when it first aired. She began to view it as she grew older and ventured into the fantasy realm. The first few episodes of the original show it was criticized for being sexually violent toward women, which is clear from the show’s title.
“There’s a lot of violent sex and it made me nervous. I was like, ‘Oh God, what am I gonna have to do in this show?'”
An intimacy coordinator is there in situations like this to make sure everyone is at ease and secure. Since Game of Thrones actor Sean Bean has commented against the proposal, the role has been a topic of discussion for women in the film business. Emily Carey, who plays Emily in House of the Dragon, praised the show’s intimacy coordinator as being “wonderful” for helping her get through these private and frequently sexual moments.
