Here’s why Emilia Clarke didn’t watch House of the Dragon
Actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s highly acclaimed Game of Thrones series, recently spoke with the media about the series’ record-breaking prequel, “The House of the Dragon,” which focuses on the volatile Targaryen dynasty.
When asked about the programme during an interview for her new film “The Pod Generation,” in which she co-stars with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Clarke said that she has never seen it.
Matt Donnelly from Variety asked Emilia Clarke if she has seen the prequel to her Targaryen ancestry. “No! Can you [forgive me]? It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange. It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it.”
Eight seasons of the HBO series Game of Thrones chronicled Emilia Clarke’s ascent to power, and while the programme was very popular, many viewers were disappointed by the conclusion presented in George R. R. Martin’s novel A Song of Ice and Fire.
While playing Daenerys, Emilia Clarke was nominated for four Emmys and won three Critics’ Choice Awards.
Meanwhile, House of the Dragon just took up the Golden Globe for Best Drama and aired to 9.9 million people, setting an HBO record.
