Following multiple reports, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas will all be remastered in HD. They’ll be packaged together as Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

The collection will be available on PC (through the Rockstar Games Launcher), PlayStation, Xbox, and, more interestingly, the Nintendo Switch. It will be available for both iOS and Android in the first half of 2022. Pricing and a release date have yet to be announced.

The corporation hasn’t specified what kind of technical advancements were made, nor has it released any film. However, each of the games has received “across-the-board upgrades, including graphics improvements and modern gameplay tweaks.”

The firm adopted a genuine approach for its remasters, retaining “the vintage look and feel of the originals” as they were presented on PS2.

If you grew up with Grand Theft Auto V (which is understandable given that it’s eight years old) and haven’t had an easy way to play these earlier impactful games, this seems like a good time to start.

It may feel strange to play a Grand Theft Auto game that doesn’t allow you to switch between characters, but the exploits of Claude, the mute protagonist in GTA III, Tommy Vercetti in Vice City, and CJ in San Andreas are nonetheless well worth experiencing.

According to Rockstar, we’ll learn more about the game collection in the following weeks. However, in preparation for the launch, it will begin deleting existing versions of each title from digital marketplaces next week, so get them while you can.
