‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ will be on Oculus Quest 2
This week’s Facebook Connect keynote event was full of surprises, one of which was, to say the least, unexpected. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a PlayStation 2 classic, is coming to the Oculus Quest 2. Mark Zuckerberg made the official announcement during the Connect event’s VR segment.
This isn’t the only San Andreas news to have sparked excitement among fans recently, with the announcement of a remastered version of the game earlier this month. There isn’t much else known about the VR project at the moment, and we only have a brief 40-second mention from the event to go on. However, the idea of playing the game in virtual reality has sparked a lot of debate among fans.

The PlayStation 2 version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released in 2004. It tells the storey of Carl “CJ” Johnson, an ex-gang member who returns to his hometown following his mother’s murder. He rejoins his neighbourhood gang, revealing a world of gang warfare, corrupt cops, and wealthy criminals. San Andreas, the game’s main setting and a fictional state, has long been a fan favourite in the GTA series.
The game is also regarded as one of the best video games of all time, and it was a watershed moment for Rockstar, as it introduced a new approach to gameplay in comparison to its predecessors, as well as customization options and mini-games.
The Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy will be released on November 11, but it is unclear when the Oculus Quest 2 version will be available.
