Google will soon let you track your packages through Gmail
In the coming weeks, Google will include a function that allows users of Gmail to track their packages in preparation for the hectic holiday season in the United States. When you click on the link provided by most trackers, you will be taken to the official website of the delivery service; however, Google’s tracking service will remain independent so that you will always be informed of the status of your order. As the name suggests, the functionality of package tracking will be available within your Gmail inbox. In the coming weeks, Google will begin rolling out an update that will require users to grant the firm permission to track their goods before the company can do so.
“Gmail is introducing new features to help you save time and stay on top of all your shipments,” Google said in its blog post.
Users will be able to view the order status below the letter header once you have given Gmail permission to track their deliveries. You will find a box within the mail that has all the delivery details, including the status of the order, whether it has shipped, or been delivered and other relevant information.
“In the coming weeks, Gmail will show a simple, helpful view of your package tracking and delivery information right in your inbox.” “For orders with tracking numbers, Gmail will prominently display your current delivery status in your inbox list view and in a summary card at the top of individual emails,” the blog post adds.
For the time being, Gmail will only offer this feature to customers in the United States, and it will support all of the main shipping carriers in that country. Although Google has not provided any schedule for the introduction of this functionality to other countries’ markets, we remain optimistic that the tool will eventually be made available in those areas as well. You can expect Gmail to keep getting better in this area, and they have already added delayed order statuses.
