Gabby Windey of “The Bachelorette” ends relationship with Fiancé Erich Schwer
The breakup between Gabby Windey and fiance Erich Schwer has been disclosed
After accepting his proposal on the season 19 finale of The Bachelorette in September 2022, the reality actress, now 31, and her fiancé, now 29, have decided to dissolve their engagement.
The breakup comes after Windey said the two were working on their separate projects when she competed on Dancing with the Stars season 31.
Windey answered Fox News’ inquiry as to whether or not she and Schwer were still together by saying, “I think life is just really busy for the both of us right now. So, I understand their concern but we’re just kinda, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar.”
Fans have been wondering if the couple is still together, which inspired Windey to weigh in with his comment. The former Bachelorette was seen on the ABC show sans her engagement ring, and Schwer has been absent from the DWTS floor after initially cheering on his fiancée.
Windey had previously told reporters that having Schwer in the audience was “amazing.”
She explained that she was simply looking forward to showing him a side of herself that they didn’t normally get to see.
With the season 19 finale of The Bachelorette airing in September 2022, Schwer proposed to his Bachelorette crush at the end of their romantic journey.
Windey discussed the struggles they had when filming of the ABC reality show ended and they returned to the real world and got engaged on camera.
“There’s lots of excitement. There’s also some fear, because you don’t know what you’re really walking into,” she said at the time. “It’s a whole new world post-filming!”
When a picture and texts from Schwer’s past became public, the couple was put through misery. When Schwer’s high school yearbook appeared online, it included a photo of him in blackface.
The TV personality said she “was really stunned” when she found out about the photo at the same time the rest of the world did. “[I] really really had to analyse my thoughts and then think about how we can grow as a marriage and learn from this,” she continued.
In the end, they did, and Schwer issued an apology for his “offensive and destructive behaviour” on Instagram.
Almost immediately, an ex-girlfriend of Schwer’s revealed that the real estate analyst had broken up with her to be on The Bachelorette, and that he had only done so to advance his business. Even though Windey received the texts, she was unfazed because her fiance had warned her about them before filming concluded.
