“Fruits Basket’ – prequel film Brings Back ‘Laura Bailey’ as Tohru Honda”
Laura Bailey provided a brief interview with ComingSoon where she discussed what it was like to return to Fruits Basket and the character of Tohru Honda.
Tohru, the main character of the Fruits Basket manga and anime, was originally voiced in English by Bailey, who has since emerged as one of the most recognisable voices in the dubbing industry.
“It had probably been around 18 years since I was Tohru. Bailey was asked about what it was like to return to Fruits Basket after nearly two decades away and said, “It was hilarious back and forth, for sure. We were recording Fruits Basket at the same time that I was playing Polina [in Call of Duty: Vanguard].
Going back to her felt wonderful, Bailey continued. “I really missed her. She is one of my all-time favourite roles. I believe Tohru had a profound impact on the way I live my life, so having the chance to revisit that tale and see it through was incredibly meaningful to me. I always knew there was more to the tale to be told, but we never had the chance to do so. It was excellent.
