Fortnitemares will be back in October 2021, with tonnes of spooky skins, Halloween-themed maps, and a very special Shortnitemares film festival to enjoy! With Fortnite being in its eighth season since Chapter 2, there’s a tonne of new stuff and lore for players to explore. Fans of the battle royale are kept busy with the mystery Cube takeover of the Fortnite map, as well as the new Battle Pass and Sideways weapons.
Speaking of being busy, it’s that time of year again when Epic Games releases its creepy Halloween events… yeah, it’s time for Fortnitemares 2021! Here’s all you need to know about this year’s highly anticipated event.
Start and end dates for Fortnitemares 2021

The Fortnitemares 2021 celebrations begin on October 5, 2021 and end on November 1, 2021. This means that horror fans will be able to enjoy nearly a month of eerie celebrations!
Epic has revealed that each week will have its own special Fortnitemares features, and that every day will include new and returning Halloween-themed skins in the Item Shop.
New skins for Fortnite: Nightmares 2021
The Universal Monsters Set of skins will be introduced in Fortnitemares 2021, beginning with Frankenstein’s Monster in the Item Shop on October 5, 2021. Later this month, he’ll be joined by The Mummy.
Epic is previewing a slew of new skins with the use of fate cards, which will be flipped over during the Fortnitemares event. These skins will be a mix of fresh additions and scary takes on iconic Fortnite costumes.
One of the fortune cards appears to be a nod to Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, since a sheriff’s hat can be seen on the back of one of them. It would undoubtedly go with the Halloween theme.
Details on the Shortnitemares Film Festival

Epic has announced their third Short Nite film festival, Shortnitemares, to coincide with Fortnitemares 2021. It will include a number of animated shorts based on the “ghoulish and sinister.”
Unlike past Short Nite festivals, Shortnitemares will take place in a custom-built movie theatre, with each short animation having its own theatre area, allowing you to view them in any sequence you wish.
There is no word on a date or time, but it is expected to take place during Week 4 of Forntitemares (October 26 – November 1). We’ll keep you posted as soon as an official date is confirmed.
New game modes are available
According to HYPEX, a well-known leaker, parts of the files that were discovered allude to certain new gameplay elements that Epic is working on, which could be released alongside Fortnitemares 2021.
In previous years, Fortnite has added specific game modes centred on Fortnitemares, which entailed players transforming into ghosts in order to capture players throughout the map. So, this could return this year, but we’ll have to wait and see.
