Fortnite v18.20 update: Release date, downtime, and leaks
Epic Games has announced that another update for its hit battle royale game Fortnite will be released in the early morning hours tomorrow. The news comes with more information for those who want to know what to anticipate, including when the downtime will begin. During downtime, the game will be unable to play, as it always is.
The Fortnite version 18.20 update will be available tomorrow, October 12, at roughly 4 a.m. ET, according to Epic. As with previous updates, the game’s matchmaking will be deactivated about 30 minutes before the outage begins. To rejoin the activity, players must download and install the update.
Epic isn’t saying much about what will change with the update, but it did tease “combat combats combat,” which is about as cryptic as a teaser can get. HYPEX, a Fortnite data-miner, has leaked some information regarding this update, suggesting that it will include new Combat AR and Combat SMG weaponry, among other things.
The update will almost certainly include some of the previously mentioned Fortnitemares updates, as well as some of the promised additional content that Epic did not divulge at the time of its initial announcement. This could include the significant upgrade concerning cubes that we’ve seen leak – Epic stated that Fortnitemares will involve enhanced cube dominance.
The firm also stated that it will bring back a fan-favorite Limited Time Mode for the Halloween season, which could be included in tomorrow’s update. Though it may not be in the works yet, a completely new POI previously leaked as a massive city constructed of cubes could be on the way.
