Fortnite removes Travis Scott’s ‘Out West’ emote after Astroworld incident
Epic Games has taken Travis Scott’s ‘Out West’ emote off the Daily Item Shop, just days after a devastating Astroworld event that left eight people dead.
Ahead of the Houston, Texas event, the ‘Out West’ emote was added to the shop’s daily item list. Epic later removed the entire daily area, stating that it would be reinstated in the next shop update.
“It’s been reported that the Item Shop’s ‘Daily’ area has been deactivated,” Epic remarked. “This was done on purpose, and the ‘Daily’ part will be reinstated with the next Item Shop update.”
The ‘Out West’ emote plays a clip of the same-named JACKBOYS and Travis Scott song. It was a daily item shop selection, however, it has now been removed in the wake of news of deaths lost at the artist’s yearly festival.
Following his ‘Astronomical’ 2020 in-game performance, which ushered in a slate of ICON Series products, Travis Scott became a household figure in Epic Games’ battle royale.
The Astro Jack and Travis Scott clothes, two backblings, the ‘Rage’ emote, sprays, and loading screens are among the rapper’s other items.
Despite the fact that the ‘Out West’ emote is no longer available in the Daily Item Shop, gamers who currently own it can still use it in Fortnite.
As the impact from the Astroworld tragedy unfolds, it’s unclear whether Epic plans to take further action with content relating to the American musician.
According to local law enforcement, eight people died on the first day of the Houston event, with hundreds more injured as police investigate the cause of the “mass casualty catastrophe.”
