Fortnite removes a new feature known as the “Shotgun Striker Reality Augment” from the game
After a player discovered that they could gain health and shields by hitting their teammates as well, Epic Games had to remove a new feature called the “Shotgun Striker Reality Augment” from the game. Reality augmentations, a new and exciting feature, allow players to strategically select temporary advantages during the course of a match. Since the Winterfest event began, there had been no new content updates, so players were anticipating this one. Despite the backlash against previous updates (like the Shockwave Hammer and the Deku’s Smash), players were eager to try out the new Shotgun Striker Reality Augment.
One of the Shotgun Striker Reality Augment was quickly found to be broken and overpowered due to a serious bug. NRG Aussie Antics, a Fortnite Twitch streamer, brought the issue to light by noting that the Shotgun Striker’s description promised players that they could drain health from their opponents with each successful shot. On the other hand, the Shotgun Striker Reality Augment was acting strangely in-game, so Epic Games had to take it out until the issue was fixed.
The Shotgun Striker Reality Augment used to activate whenever its user hit an ally with the siphoning shotgun; this was deemed excessively powerful due to the fact that the user wasn’t even reducing their ally’s health by the amount of damage inflicted. It was impossible for the shotgun to cause any damage to the user’s teammate, as there is no friendly fire in Fortnite; instead, it was merely increasing the user’s own health. It’s not the first time bugs and glitches have made changes to existing features or new content in Fortnite useless.

You can gain Health and Shield from shotgunning your teammate with the new "Shotgun Striker" perk…@FortniteStatus please disable and fix 🙏 pic.twitter.com/NGVzNWNLAT
This flaw in the Shotgun Striker Reality Augment was uncovered in the heat of a competitive match. Although the Shotgun Striker Reality Augment, another new reality augment capable of siphoning resources, was included in competitive playlists, the Rarity Check was not. The fact that one Shotgun Striker Reality Augment was included in competitive playlists while the other was not raises questions because both allow players to gain health by damaging opponents. The company behind Fortnite, Epic Games, may rethink its position on siphoning after reading this. Despite this, players are optimistic that the augment will be available again soon and without any further disruptions. You can play Fortnite on your mobile device, computer, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or Xbox One X/S.
