You’ll need 200 gold bars to pay for a specialist character, but by this time in the season, you should have more than enough saved up.
Once you’ve hired a character, all you have to do to give them instructions is press a button and pick from a radial menu. Console players always access it by holding the left d-pad and choosing an option with the right stick, while PC players use the middle mouse button.
The radial selection only shows you four choices, but you actually have more. There will be an option to “Hold to Dismiss” the NPC to the right of the rotating menu.
Wait: Command the NPC to stop moving.
Move: Mark a location for the NPC to go to.
Follow: Cancel the Wait command.
Revive: Direct the NPC to revive you or a teammate (unavailable in Solos)
