Fortnite Halloween Update 18 October 2022 – Downtime, Patch Notes, Download Size and More
Epic Games often announces when the Fortnite servers will be down for scheduled maintenance the day before a new patch goes live.
The 22.20 (3.71) update release is no exception. The servers will be shut down at 4 AM ET, and the Fortnite Status Twitter account has revealed that matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes beforehand.

Although the Fortnite servers have been down for quite some time, Epic has yet to announce a date for their return. However, based on the most recent reports, the servers will be offline for around two hours, coming back online at 6 AM Eastern Time.
Fortnitemares 2022 — Preliminary Patch Notes for Season 22.20, Update 3.71
Thanks to data miners, we have a preview of some of the new features that will be included in an update before it ever goes live. Hypex, a well-known data miner, claims that there will be alterations to the loot system.
It is possible that the Grapple Glove was added to the Vault when Fortnitemares 2022 was released since the Witch Brooms will be making a return and allowing players to rotate around the battlefield at a faster rate.
It was revealed in August by Hypex that Epic Games was developing a Halloween-themed pumpkin-shaped Shockwave plugin. That means it will likely be included in Fortnite with the 3.71 patch.
Since Hypex has also confirmed the addition of a Halloween-themed boss and a mythic item for Fortnitemares 2022, it stands to reason that the new boss introduced would drop the mythic pumpkin shockwave launcher.
A Zero-Build Horde Rush limited time mode (LTM), player-controlled Diagnol mobility, and more are also on the way, as is the addition of at least one Halloween-themed point of interest (POI) to the map.
Since the beginning of the month, not only have we seen the introduction of several new skins, but we have also seen the comeback of some Halloween-themed skins that had previously been released. While the game is down, a small number of skins and other cosmetics will likely be leaked.
