F**k him: Trump blasts Netanyahu for congratulating Biden

On Friday, an Israeli daily reported that former President Trump slammed Benjamin Netanyahu for congratulating President Joe Biden on his win in last year’s election.

Trump accused Netanyahu of helping himself by overturning decades of US policy and supporting Israel’s claims to war-seized territories. Trump still claims he won the US election.

Trump slammed a video of Netanyahu congratulating Biden that he shared online earlier this year with Israeli journalist Barak Ravid.

“Nobody did more for Bibi. And I liked Bibi. I still like Bibi,” Trump declared in statements published in the Yediot Aharonot daily. “But I also like loyalty… Bibi could have stayed quiet. He has made a terrible mistake.”

Unlike most other international leaders, Netanyahu congratulated Biden 12 hours after the election was called. Netanyahu praised Trump in a tweet that did not refer to him as president-elect.

A video released by Netanyahu on Jan. 20, the day Biden was inaugurated, enraged Trump, who stated he and Biden had a “warm personal friendship going back many decades.”

“I haven’t spoken to him since. F—- him,” Trump said.

After four hard-fought elections in less than two years, Netanyahu was ousted as prime minister last summer.

Trump administration dropped opposition to Israeli settlements in the West Bank and recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. This came after the administration proposed a Mideast proposal that the Palestinians vehemently rejected.

Trump claimed recognising Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, which it took from Syria in 1967, aided Netanyahu ahead of the April 2019 Israeli elections.

Just before the election, which aided Netanyahu, Trump remarked.

Trump also pulled out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which Israel fiercely opposed. After reimposing US sanctions eased under the accord, Iran began publicly breaching its nuclear programme constraints. Biden is currently trying to repair the deal with foreign powers.

“I’ll tell you what — had I not come along I think Israel was going to be destroyed,” Trump remarked. “I think Israel would have been destroyed maybe by now.”
