Jean-Marc Vallée, 58, died unexpectedly. Big Little Lies earned him an Emmy and a DGA Award, and he was nominated for directing Dallas Buyers Club, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.
Reason of death yet unknown of this unexpected death
“Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. Sons Alex and Émile, and siblings Marie-Josée Vallée, Stéphane Tousignant and Gérald Vallée survive him.
“Jean-Marc Vallée was a brilliant, fiercely dedicated filmmaker, a truly phenomenal talent,” HBO added. A guy of great compassion, he gave his all to every performer he directed.
