The grind for Division Rivals prizes in Ultimate Team has begun with the release of FIFA 22. Here’s all you need to know about the new awards, when they’ll be available, and how to improve your FUT rankings.
In FIFA Ultimate Team, Division Rivals is perhaps the most popular mode. Unlike Squad Battles, where players compete against the AI, Division Rivals sets you against other players and their teams online.
It has a ranked system, similar to other competitive games, that assigns skill ratings to participants, which can later be boosted or dropped depending on performance. Players can end up in one of several divisions, and the benefits you receive will depend on which one you complete the week in.
Here’s all we know about the changes to Division Rivals and when awards will be distributed in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team ranked play.
FIFA 22 Division Rivals changes explained
EA Sports reports that Division Rivals in FIFA 22 will be “overhauling” with the addition of a new seasonal progression system and a new “Elite Division,” where the best of the best may go head-to-head.
The way players progress through Divisions and receive incentives in FIFA 22 will be altered. Division Rivals will transition to a new ladder system, with each Division consisting of the following three elements:
Ranks
As you climb through the ranks within a Division, you’ll unlock better and better Weekly Rewards.
Stages
The various steps between Ranks are referred to as Stages. Divisions are made up of Ranks, which are built up of several Stages.
Checkpoints
Finally, checkpoints ensure that players maintain a suitable skill level by preventing them from losing progress.
Each match’s outcome impacts how you go up or down the Divisions ladder. When you win a match, you advance one Stage. Unless you’re on a Checkpoint, losing a match puts you back one Stage. You stay in your current place by drawing.
A win streak starts when you win two consecutive games in a succession. For every additional win while this perk is active, you will gain an additional Stage.
In Division Rivals, how can you qualify for the FIFA 22 Elite Division?
Beyond Division 1, the Elite Division is a fresh new tier of competition where the top FUT players in the world can compete. In the Elite Division, progression is based on a Skill Rating system, which you may recall from FUT 21.
This Skill Rating is used to rank all Elite Division players, with the top 200 displaying on the Global Leaderboard for all to view.
You’ll stay in the Elite Division for the rest of the current Season if you make it there (which we know you will).
FIFA 22 Division Rivals season rewards explained
Season Milestones are a new opportunity for Division Rivals players to gain rewards by just playing Rivals matches. You’ll still gain credit toward those delicious, sweet Seasonal Rewards whether you win or lose. Based on the Division you finish the season in, players can receive up to three Milestone Rewards each Division.
In FIFA 22, how long do Division Rivals seasons last?
This year, EA is turning Division Rivals into a seasonal competition that will be related to the regular FUT Seasons, which last about 6 weeks.
Everyone’s development will be reset to the next lower Division at the start of each season. Which Division you wind up in is entirely determined by where you finished the previous season.
When will Division Rivals be available in FIFA 22?
Division Rivals in FIFA 22 will be played in weekly sessions beginning on Thursdays and ending on Thursdays. Naturally, the awards are released when these periods are refreshed, which occurs at the following times:
- 1 AM PDT
- 2 AM CDT
- 3 AM EDT
- 8 AM BST (UK)
- 9 AM CEST (EU)
- 5 PM AEDT (AUS – next day)
