Fans of Diablo 2 Resurrected blast Blizzard and demand refunds for the botched launch
Diablo 2 Resurrected’s post-launch struggles continue, with some fans requesting a refund due to the game’s ongoing server and matchmaking problems.
While the Diablo 2 remaster provided fans with the nostalgic boost they desired, the game’s initial release was far from ideal. The game has been plagued by server outages and matching issues since its release, and fans are growing impatient.
After taking measures to correct the game’s issues with necessary maintenance, the servers fell down for nearly an entire day on a weekend. This infuriated many fans because it occurred during peak gameplay.
Blizzard’s lack of communication during the downtime was also criticised, and the corporation has since worked hard to address this by tweeting more regularly. However, the harm may have already been done, as an increasing number of fans are requesting a refund.
Since Diablo 2 Resurrected’s last server outage, the hashtag #RefundD2R has been trending on Twitter, with more and more people joining the cause. Reddit users have also joined the debate, requesting refunds from D2R following the game’s rocky launch.
Blizzard has stated that the outages were caused by a bug in Diablo 2 Resurrected’s code. This provides fans optimism that the issue, now that it has been detected, can be remedied. A repair at this late stage, however, may not be enough to discourage those fans who have begun demanding for a refund.
“This is rapidly approaching I would like a refund territory” one Redditor said, while another said, “I tried to refund a day ago based on constant crashes and downtime, they denied it because I had played the game.”
Blizzard has yet to issue a public statement. Their response to an individual player’s request for a refund, on the other hand, has leaked online.
The corporation may be thinking that addressing the problem at its source will suffice to appease angry players.
