Man of God: Synopsis
Unjustly exiled, convicted without a trial, and slandered without justification. Persecution and prosecution marked St. Nektarios of Aegina’s life. According to the synopsis, “a priest of the people, his popularity provoked the jealousy of the clergy in Alexandria, and as a result, he was defrocked and banished from Egypt.” “Unlike his religious’superiors,’ Nektarios took care of the impoverished, educated peasant girls to read and write, and performed miracles.” Even in his final moments on earth, Nektarios’ undergarment was removed, and as it fell across a paralysed man in the hospital bed next to him, the lame man stood to walk.
