Erling Haaland has completed his move to Premier League champions Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund
Manchester City confirmed that Erling Haaland had completed his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the Premier League winners. At the Etihad Stadium, Haaland, 21, signed a five-year contract. According to Haaland: “This is a proud day for me and my family. I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.
“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfill my ambitions.
“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer, and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me, and I can’t wait to get started in the preseason.”
City beat Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to sign the Norway international, who was one of the most sought-after young players in the world. In his first full season with Dortmund, Haaland scored 41 goals in 41 appearances after joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. After making his international debut in 2019, he has scored 20 goals in 21 games for Norway. This season, he scored 36 goals in 34 games for both club and country.
Haaland will be an important addition to Pep Guardiola’s club as they attempt to become the first team since Manchester United in 2009 to win the league three times in a row.
