Epic Games is now teasing an island collaboration with The Lord of the Rings in Fortnite
The Twitter leaker of Fortnite’s upcoming events has speculated that Epic Games is now promoting collaboration between Fortnite and The Lord of the Rings set on an island. Epic Games appears to be hinting at a possible Lord of the Rings crossover with Fortnite. Players of Fortnite’s third season found the Lord of the Rings-themed landmark on the island, suggesting a crossover event is in the works. Fortnite has seen an absurd number of crossovers over the years, and some players speculated that a new Easter egg hinted at a possible crossover with the classic Lord of the Rings series.
A recent leaker suggested the possible addition of several interesting franchises to Fortnite. This time around, the Easter egg has sparked rumors that Fortnite will be the Lord of the Rings crossover game. If the rumors are true, the Fortnite community will find out more about the upcoming partnership in the coming days.
An Easter clue in the game suggests that characters from Tolkien’s Middle-earth may soon be added to Fortnite, contradicting recent rumors that MultiVersus is removing leaked LOTR content. While the community is still rejoicing over Fortnite’s crossover with Dragon Ball, data miner ShiinaBR has posited evidence that the game may soon team up with Lord of the Rings. The uncertain future of Lord of the Rings licensing has made a LOTR crossover in Fortnite seem like a probable thing. However, video game mega-publisher Embracer Group has announced that they are purchasing the rights to the Lord of the Rings intellectual property, which may make this unlikely.
For one thing, Warner Bros. normally owns LOTR rights, and since they’ve been pushing their own crossover game, Multiverses, they’ve glaringly refused to bring any new DC characters into Fortnite. Multiverses are Warner Bros.’s very own mashup game. Considering that a LOTR teaser showcasing the Sandcastle battle at Helm’s Deep currently exists in-game, it seems that LOTR is the most likely to soon find its way into Fortnite.
Since there is no evidence (apart from a MidaRado post) suggesting that Family Guy might arrive too, DOOM and Lord of the Rings are the most likely franchises to be coming to Fortnite (if Epic Games actually chooses to do it). The most shocking news comes from MidaRado, who claims that Fortnite will have a crossover between Doom, Fall Guy, Lord of the Rings, and Destiny.
