Elon Musk Spacelink is in talks with Apple to provide new SOS services to its newly released iPhone model 14
Elon Musk Spacelink is reportedly in talks with Apple to offer additional SOS services for the company’s recently unveiled iPhone model 14. Elon Musk, the founder of Space X, reportedly said that his organization had positive discussions with the iPhone manufacturing firm.”We’ve had some promising conversations with Apple about Starlink connectivity,” Musk said in a tweet.
Elon Musk added that a hardware and software update might be necessary for the iPhone and Starlink to function optimally. Elon Musk did not offer any additional information about the situation. “Without a doubt, closing the link from space to the phone will work best if phone software and hardware adapt to space-based signals rather than Starlink emulating cell towers,” he said.
One of the highlights of the recently released iPhone models was the update to the SOS emergency services. When cellular services aren’t accessible, users can communicate using an emergency SOS service. The phone needs to be connected to the satellites supplying the services in order for the SOS emergency system to function effectively. The emergency SOS services could be affected if there are any obstructions, such as trees or tall buildings, according to a statement from Apple. In India, the SOS services are still not accessible.
The new way of delivering emergency texts is reportedly supported by the new iPhones. In the United States and Canada, the new edition of SOS is anticipated to be released in November. The program is anticipated to offer free services for the first two years, according to reports.
The California-based tech company announced its plans to work with Globalstar Inc. to enable its emergency messaging services, which it offers to its clients, in a statement at the presentation of the new iPhone model 14. A satellite communication firm with its headquarters in Louisiana, Globalstar offers its services to people who need low-cost satellite phones and low-speed data connectivity.
The maker of the iPhone added that the corporation has set aside about 450 million dollars to fund satellite services. Satellite services are reportedly currently offered in the USA and Canada. According to T-Mobile US, it intends to deploy Starlink satellites to offer services to its mobile customers. Sources say that the company plans to use SpaceX Starlink’s services to connect mobile services to satellite orbits that are close by.
