During a Disneyland show, a fire-breathing dragon erupts into flames
This past weekend, the fire-breathing mechanical dragon from the famed “Fantasmic!” performance at Disneyland startled audience members by abruptly igniting.
The Anaheim Fire Department said Sunday that no one was hurt in the Saturday night wildfire at the Southern California amusement park.
Regular Disneyland guest Ryan Laux claims that flames have always been a component of the “Fantasmic!” show. But he remarked that something was wrong when the fire came from a different direction than usual.
“The head started going on fire instead of the fire projecting out,” Laux, who lives in Los Angeles and filmed the blaze, explained.
Shortly after that, “the dragon started catching fire and the whole body was up in flames,” he told The Associated Press on Sunday, explaining why the presentation had to be cut short.
Twice weekly, the entertainment can be seen by guests near the park’s signature Tom Sawyer Island. Mickey Mouse faces up against Maleficent, a gigantic dragon, in the showdown’s final moments.
As soon as the dragon’s head was enveloped in flames, Laux claimed, Mickey disappeared from the stage.
It took some time to assess the damage.
