‘Dual’ Confirmed Release Date for Blu-ray and DVD
Dual, a science fiction/fantasy film produced by RLJE Films (a division of AMC Networks), will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 19, 2022, the company announced today.
The story centres on Sarah, played by Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy Franchise) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), who decides to have a cloning process done after learning that she has terminal cancer so that her loved ones can have an easier time grieving her death. However, things do not go according to plan when she mysteriously recovers and returns to full health. Since she was powerless to prevent her clone’s creation, the court has decreed that she fight to the death with her clone. The movie charts her progress over the course of a year as she trains her body and mind for a fight to the finish against her own demons. Along with Gillan and Paul, the film also features Theo James (the Divergent series) and Beulah Koale
When reviewing the film, Ross Bonaime of Collider said, “Stearns’ screenplay almost always zigs where the audience is expecting it to zag.” Bonaime gave the film a grade of B-. Sarah’s recovery is just the beginning of Stearns’ habit of throwing the viewer for a loop. Some of the film’s most hilarious scenes occur when viewers least expect it.
For his third feature, Stearns returns to the director’s chair after the critically praised Faults (2014) and the action comedy The Art of Self-Defense (2019). Having made its world debut at the Sundance Picture Festival in January, the film was released in theatres on April 15. The film’s producers are Stearns, Nate Bolotin, Aram Tertzakian, Lee Kim, Nick Spicer, and Maxime Cottray.
The Blu-ray and DVD release will contain a new audio commentary by writer/director Riley Stearns and a featurette called “The Making of Dual,” which provides an inside look at the production process. Priced at $27.97 for the DVD and $28.96 for the Blu-ray, Dual has been given a suggested retail price of both.
The DVD and Blu-ray of Dual will be available on July 19.
