Drake loses $1 million after betting on Argentina to defeat France in the World Cup
Drake has suffered a major financial loss as a result of his World Cup bet, which was placed on Argentina’s victory over France.
When the final FIFA match ended Sunday with a score of 4-2, the Canadian rapper’s $1 million wager on Argentina was a loss.
The “Rich Flex” musician put his money on the result based on the score after 90 minutes, even though Argentina ended up beating France in a shootout.
Drake revealed to his Instagram followers that he placed a $2.75 million bet on Stakes in a now-deleted post.
It was also revealed on social media that Drake is rooting for Argentina, as he can be heard saying, “I’ll take Argentina, he’ll take France” in a clip with a friend while sporting Napoli gear.
Rapper Drake, originally from Toronto, has probably gotten used to losing bets in the sports world, where some have blamed his name for bad luck.
More recently, Drake has lost a lot of money betting on other matches.
After middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 281 on November 12 in New York, he lost a $2 million bet on a UFC fight.
Also in May, Drake lost over $200,000 betting on Charles Leclerc to win the Spanish Grand Prix for Formula One.
After Team Canada was eliminated from this year’s World Cup, Canadian sports fans joked online about the rapper and his “curse.”
