Drake Bell’s explanation after disappearing does not convince his fans
After being reported missing by the Daytona Beach Police Department earlier in the day, Drake Bell turned to social media on Thursday night. Actor Jared Bell, whose real name is Bell, was found safe in Florida after a manhunt. Fans were not impressed by his remark, which downplayed the seriousness of the situation.
The 36-year-old released a brief statement to the public on Twitter in which he mocked the whole ordeal. “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?” Bell added, adding an emoji of laughter to the end of his statement.
Drake & Josh was a huge success on Nickelodeon, but once it ended in 2007, the actor had a hard time finding his footing professionally and personally. Bell wasted no time in spending his entire life’s savings and eventually ran up a $1.5 million debt. There was instant tension between him and his former co-star, Josh Peck.
Further debate and contention arose in the years that followed. In addition to being arrested twice for driving under the influence, he also abused two ex-girlfriends verbally and physically, and his biggest controversy was that he sent sexually explicit communications to a 15-year-old girl while he was 31.
Drake Bell’s most recent problem, his being declared’missing’ and in danger by Daytona Beach Police, is only the latest in a string of troubling episodes involving the former star. Bell’s attempt to downplay the incident also angered viewers.
“Because we were very worried… you have no idea how many unread messages I have from family, friends, coworkers and ex-coworkers, even strangers asking about you. means we care a lot about you.” Some people were put off by his reply. Another user commented, “I can’t believe this is a joke to you.”
