Drake and His First Girlfriend Keshia Chanté come together onstage At OVO Fest
Aside from his postponed Young Money reunion due to COVID, Drake’s annual OVO Fest has been a monumental one as his fellow Canadians have shown their appreciation.
Nelly Furtado’s performance of “Promiscuous” and “Turn Off The Light.” two of her most well-known songs, was one of the most talked-about highlights of the first night. Her 2002 hit, “I’m Like A Bird” was also performed by the two, much to the delight of the crowd and the internet at large.
That was not the only female artist Drizzy had in store for his fans, however. Keshia Chanté, the “Unpredictable” singer with whom the 35-year-old had a romantic relationship, was also a part of the cast.
“This next person coming to the stage, I used to get in my mom’s car and I used to drive all the way to the west for this one right here, you feel me? So I have to personally introduce her,” Drake said . “This is my first girlfriend I ever had in my life,” he added.
It turns out that Chanté is the “KiKi” who the Scorpion rapper sings about in “In My Feelings.” and about whom rumours have long circulated.
Chanté then went on to play a rousing set of her most popular songs, which she documented with a photo dump on Instagram.
“Legendary Nights in Toronto,” the 34-year-old wrote. “I’ve never seen the city come together like that!! It was everything. A dream only @champagnepapi could make true. The most heartfelt and meaningful introduction I’ve ever had. Aubs I love u for life.”
Later, she wrote, “Performing songs I dropped in my teen years and hearing you sing all the words, made my soul so happy. Such a beautiful memory I will cherish forever. Toronto you have been riding for me since the very beginning and I am so grateful for the love.”
