” Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Disney+ Revealed new Place in the MCU Timeline”
The official position of the movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline has been established following the Disney+ premiere of the recently released Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
We now know that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness takes place after the 2021 film Eternals and just before the Disney+ series Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and the ongoing Ms. Marvel. This information comes from Disney+’s tool that lets users see the MCU in a timeline order — a chronological list that shows which films and television series come before and after one another inside of the MCU.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fully updated timeline is as follows:
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- Captain Marvel
- Iron Man
- Iron Man 2
- Thor
- The Avengers
- Thor: The Dark World
- Iron Man 3
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
- Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Ant-Man
- Captain America: Civil War
- Black Widow
- Black Panther
- Spider-Man: Homecoming
- Doctor Strange
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Ant-Man and the Wasp
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Avengers: Endgame
- Loki
- What If…?
- WandaVision
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
- Eternals
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Hawkeye
- Moon Knight
- Ms. Marvel
This list is currently incomplete because three MCU-related projects, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, have not yet debuted on Disney+. Fans have continued to speculate about the setting of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 as a result of the Doctor Strange sequel’s placement.
Other details
Many believed Multiverse of Madness occurred after the events of No Way Home before it was formally placed in a timeline. Fans are left wondering how the movie might relate to No Way Home, which also ended as the holiday season was beginning because it comes before Hawkeye, which takes place during the holidays. The movies appear to take place very close to one another, at the very least, given their connection and the introduction of the multiverse in the MCU.
