Did you Know? MLK Jr. covered Julia Roberts’ birth hospital expenses
While the “Pretty Woman” actress has had several noteworthy moments in her career, she recently revealed one in which she was not the hero.
As part of an interview with Gayle King, the actress discussed how her parents met Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife while residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Back in the day, Robert’s parents were the heads of a theatre academy.
The protagonist of “Erin Brockovich” revealed that her mother had admitted the late Dr. King’s children into the school when segregation was at its worst, so the King family was delighted to assist the Roberts when the time came.
Roberts explained that Coretta called his mother and inquired if her children could attend the school because they were having trouble enrolling them elsewhere.
Celebrating her 55th birthday, actress Julia Roberts posted a selfie to Instagram in which she can be seen holding a mug of coffee and surrounded by pink and gold balloons.
It’s not the first time that Julia Roberts’s name has been linked to that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; a couple of years ago, a report surfaced claiming that her parents, Betty and Walter Roberts, had a car blown up outside of one of her plays because Dr. King’s daughter was kissed by a white actor.
