Demaryius Thomas ex-Broncos wide receiver died at the age of just 33
DeMarcus Ware, who played with Thomas from 2014 to 2016, tweeted his “heartbroken” and shared a photo with him.
The cause of Thomas’ death was unknown. Thomas was found dead in his Georgia home late Thursday night, cops said. An email from Fox News to his agents went unanswered.
“Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise,” stated Officer Tim Lupo, public information officer for the Roswell, Georgia police department.
Before turning pro, he had a tremendous career at Georgia Tech. He has 46 catches for 1,154 yards and 8 touchdowns as a junior. The Broncos drafted him with the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 draught.
In 2011, he and Tim Tebow connected for a game-winning touchdown pass to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card playoffs. The Broncos were 8-8 and the Steelers 12-4.
After that, Thomas made the Pro Bowl three times. From 2012 to 2016, he received over 1,000 yards. When Peyton Manning joined the Broncos in 2012, he instantly became his favourite target. The relationship propelled the Broncos to two Super Bowl victories and a Super Bowl participation.
Thomas later played for the Texans and Jets. It was a career of 724 catches, 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns.
