Deadpool 3 will include Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Also Release Date Announced
That is right, it is actually happening. The casting of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 has been a running joke throughout the Deadpool films (and the full meta-Deadpool plot that is Ryan Reynolds’ real life), and now it looks like it is actually going to happen. Snikt! Bub! A real fastball! All of those things will be said by Deadpool in the film, and we will cheer our little goddamn heads off.
In a video that we initially took to be an advertisement for Aviation Gin, Reynolds broke the news. We are still not entirely persuaded, but Variety has also reported on the story, so it must be true. Even though the concept of the video suggests otherwise, Reynolds has no concrete plans for Deadpool 3 beyond requesting Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine “one more time.” Wolverine’s claw marks rip the Deadpool emblem while a message reads, “Coming Hughn” and “I Will Always Love Hugh.”
Although we have heard that Hugh Jackman really wanted to do it, that Chris Hemsworth wanted to do it just to stick it to Hugh Jackman, that the movie will indeed be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that Disney probably will not ruin the movie, and that Free Guy’s Shawn Levy will direct it (though let us hope that he does not ruin the movie), this is the first concrete update we have had for Deadpool 3 in a while.
Apart from the hysterically funny “Coming Hughn” joke the video closed with what appears to be confirmation that Deadpool 3 will be released on September 6, 2024.
