Squid Game, Netflix’s latest smash drama, has taken the internet by storm, and main actress HoYeon Jung has reaped the benefits, with her Instagram follower count skyrocketing to 9.2 million just days after the show premiered.
Since its release on Netflix on September 17, the South Korean drama Squid Game has surged in popularity, thanks primarily to word of mouth.
In the show, low-income people engage in a series of hazardous challenges (some of which have gone viral on TikTok) in the hopes of becoming wealthy.
As a result of the show’s success, actor HoYeon Jung has seen her personal growth surge. Despite being one of the world’s Top 50 Models, she had just over 400,000 Instagram followers prior to the introduction of Squid Game.
After the Squid Game, HoYeon Jung has millions of followers.
Jung gained a following two days after the episode debuted and began to gain a following. On Friday and Saturday, she earned 20,000 Instagram followers, according to statistics.
On Sunday, the 19th, a whopping 250,209 people showed up. After then, the followers continued to flow in, with millions of people pushing the follow button on her Instagram every day since.
On September 30, 1.3 million new individuals choose to follow her on Instagram, making it her busiest day yet.
Squid Game was, amusingly, Jung’s debut acting role, in which he played North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok. Not bad for her first acting role.
Unfortunately, there are no plans for a sequel, but considering HoYeon Jung’s sudden fame, we shouldn’t have to wait long to see her next effort.
