Daesung of BIG BANG has decided to end his tenure at YG Entertainment
Soompi claims that YG Entertainment has confirmed that BIGBANG’s Daesung will be leaving the agency after 16 years. Daesung will remain a member of BIGBANG even if he no longer works for YG Entertainment.
The K-pop singer “is looking for a fresh start,” YG Entertainment announced on December 26.
“The fact that Daesung is a BIGBANG member has not changed. We support Daesung’s choice and new start, and we are always open to cooperating with him,” the label added.
After his contract with YG ended, fellow BIGBANG member Taeyang signed with YG subsidiary THEBLACKLABEL on the same day. He, like Daesung, is still an official member of the band.
Meanwhile, the agency said that discussions to extend G- Dragon’s contract were ongoing.
T.O.P., another member of the group, has also departed the agency following the expiration of his contract in February to focus on his career as an artist and entrepreneur. He is still a member of BIGBANG just as the rest of them are.
Big Bang, who debuted in August 2006, originally consisted of five members. Songs like “BANG BANG BANG,” “Fantastic Baby,” and “Loser” helped make the band famous. In 2016, they dropped an album titled MADE.
The K-pop icons returned in April with the eagerly awaited single “Still Life.” Since their digital song “Flower Road” was out in March of 2018, “Still Life” is BIGBANG’s first release as a collective. The other members, G-Dragon, T.O.P., Taeyang, and Daesung, have all completed their mandatory military service since Seungri’s departure and retirement from the entertainment industry.
