Cobra Kai Season 5: Release date, Plot, Cast, and More
The first trailer for Cobra Kai season 5, which will begin airing in a matter of weeks, has been released. This clip is the longest one yet. In order to take on Terry Silver and the Cobra Kai dojo, Johnny Lawrence (played by William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio), and their respective student bodies have banded together. They will also go up against the antagonist of Karate Kid Part III, Mike Barnes, a karate bad boy who has grown up to be a man. Netflix’s Cobra Kai is not just one of the best shows on Netflix but also one of the most popular series on the streaming service. This film is a continuation of the Karate Kid film series and follows former adversaries Johnny and Daniel as they are now, as adults, some 30 years later. When Johnny brought in a new group of students to his old Cobra Kai dojo to teach them, it put them back in a fight with each other.
In retaliation, Daniel resumed Miyagi-do, which led to conflicts amongst their students both on the mat and in the classroom. In the fourth season, Johnny and Daniel decide to put their rivalry behind them and work together to defeat John Kreese and Terry Silver, who have gained control of Cobra Kai. They formed a pact, which states that Kreese and Silver will leave the Valley permanently if Johnny and Daniel’s students are victorious in the competition. However, once Cobra Kai was victorious and Kreese was sentenced to prison, Daniel came to a shocking conclusion regarding the future of Miyagi-do. This is everything you need to know about the fifth season of Cobra Kai.
Cobra Kai season 5 release date
Netflix has provided official confirmation that the fifth season of Cobra Kai will be released on September 9, 2018. This is about four months earlier than we had anticipated. In the past, Netflix has distributed new episodes around the time of the New Year, and we anticipated that pattern to continue. The fact that the show will premiere earlier this year does not come as much of a surprise to us. Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz confirmed that filming for the fifth season of the show was finished in December by posting a photo to Twitter (opens in new tab) with the caption “Five. Fin. #ByeAtlanta #CobraKai,” which also featured Josh Heald. The filming for the fifth season of the show concluded in December (who has many credits on the show, including co-creator, co-executive producer, and co-writer).
Cobra Kai season 5 cast
William Zabka, who played Johnny Lawrence, and Ralph Macchio, who played Daniel LaRusso, are, as one might expect, at the top of that list. Thomas Ian Griffith, who will play the role of new Cobra Kai chief Terry Silver, will join them in the role. Daniel will be forming an alliance with Chozen, an adversary he has faced in the past, who will once again be portrayed by Yuji Okumoto. In addition, Sean Kanan will be reprising his role as Mike Barnes, an adversary from Karate Kid Part III, in Season 5. The roles of Amanda LaRusso, Daniel’s wife, and Carmen Diaz, Miguel’s mother, will very probably be played by Courtney Henggeler and Vanessa Rubio, respectively. It looks like most of the students from the three dojos will also be in Cobra Kai. The following was confirmed in the trailer for the movie:
- Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
- Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Daniel’s daughter
- Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Johnny’s son
- Peyton List as Tory Nichols
It’s likely that the other major students will be returning as well, including:
- Jacob Bertrand as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz
- Gianni Decenzo as Demetri Alexopoulos
- Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny Payne
- Oona O’Brien as Devon Lee
- Griffin Santopietro as Anthony LaRusso, Daniel’s son
Cobra Kai season 5 plot
The conclusion of Cobra Kai season 4 left us with a great number of loose ends to pick up later. The first problem is that Daniel makes the decision that he and Johnny will not uphold the deal that they made with John Kreese. Chozen is brought in to go on the offensive rather than Miyagi-do being shut down, which is the strategy he chooses. In season 5, we might see Daniel employ more forceful strategies in his fight against the Cobra Kai. In reference to the hostile dojo, Terry Silver was the mastermind behind the arrest of his former training partner, Kreese, who was falsely accused of assaulting Stingray. Now that he has taken complete control of Cobra Kai, he is getting ready to expand the dojo throughout the Valley by opening new locations. The atmosphere gives off the impression that Cobra Kai is playing the role of an evil empire, and Daniel and Johnny are spearheading the rebellion against it.
On the other hand, Terry might have to replace two of his top students. After seeing his protégé Kenny bully Anthony LaRusso, it appears as though Robby is having second thoughts about the “no mercy” ideology. It appears from the footage in the trailer that he is getting back on his own path and is making progress in reconciling with Johnny. He is seen accompanying his father on a mission to collect Miguel from Mexico. In a similar vein, Tory appears to be struggling with the information that she was only able to win the All Valley competition as a result of Terry’s efforts to bribe the tournament referee. It’s possible that she’ll decide she can’t keep putting up with being treated differently.
And last but not least, we have Miguel. After withdrawing from the competition due to a muscle strain, the former champion was nowhere to be seen. He told his mother and Johnny in a note that he had left for them that he was going to Mexico to meet his father, who was reportedly a nasty guy, and that he was leaving for Mexico right now. Johnny has sworn to himself that he will find him and bring him back.
