‘Cobra Kai’ Season 4: Surprise Return, Release Date, Trailer, Cast, and All You Should Know
Cobra Kai on Netflix is easily one of the most enjoyable adventures to watch on-screen, regardless of your age. The Karate Kid spin-off series follows Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) as they return to martial arts as mentors 30 years after their classic match in the first film. The breakout series, which debuted as a YouTube Red original, took off not only with the well-established 80s fanbase, but also with a new audience thanks to its fresh-faced and badass rising stars. The show’s overwhelmingly positive reception since it was acquired by Netflix has resulted in a pair of recent Emmy nominations.
Even better news for fans: while Season 3 was released earlier this year, Season 4 is already in the works and will be released in 2021! Prepare for more squabbles, the long-awaited reunion of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, and a new and exciting return to the dojo realm.
Here’s everything we know so far about the plot, release date information, and the cast members who will join Cobra Kai in season 4.
When Will Cobra Kai Season 4 Be Released?

Season 4 of Cobra Kai has a confirmed release date! According to the most recent trailer, Cobra Kai Season 4 will be available on Netflix on December 31, 2021. It was one of the titles confirmed for the fourth quarter of this year earlier this year, alongside other Netflix originals such as The Witcher and You.
Season 4 began filming in February of this year and lasted approximately three and a half months before being completed in May. William Zabka took to social media to share the good news about the production wrap-up, along with a couple of shots of himself ready for a fight. We’re eager to see more of Johnny’s still-intact karate moves now that we know the wait is almost over!
The Season 4 Trailer Has Arrived
The first full Season 4 trailer was released in September, right alongside the official release date announcement, and you can watch it right now below:
During the long wait for a trailer, Netflix previously debuted an All Valley Karate Tournament promo, which generated a lot of excitement among Cobra Kai fans.
Previously, Netflix teased the return of another fan-favorite character from the original films… with an ominous warning.
Who Is in the Cast of Cobra Kai Season 4?

If you’re worried that any of the main cast members will leave the show in Season 4, you probably don’t need to be. According to various tidbits of information from the upcoming season, the following names are certain to appear in Cobra Kai’s next chapter:
– Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso)
– William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence)
– Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz)
– Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso)
– Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso)
– Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene)
– Jacob Bertrand (Hawk)
– Martin Cove (John Kreese)
– Peyton List (Tory Schwarber)
– Vanessa Rubio (Carmen Diaz)
Given that their presence in season 3 was critical to the plot, particularly during some of the main fight scenes, we anticipate Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) and Kyler (Joe Seo) to reprise their roles in season 4. Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien are the new additions to the Netflix series’ rest of the cast.
Well, there is one significant addition that has gone unmentioned until now!
Another Karate Kid Original Is Returning

I’m sure the inclusion of other original Karate Kid cast members transported you back in time (assuming that you have grown up watching the franchise prior to the series). Elisabeth Shue and Rob Garrison, both of whom died in 2019, were among the familiar faces we saw in season 3. However, there is an exciting return to the Karate Kid universe in the form of Terry Silver’s triumphant return! The teaser trailer for the third instalment of the Karate Kid franchise, which debuted on the Cobra Kai social media pages on May 27th, confirmed actor Thomas Ian Griffith’s return to the role he played in the third instalment of the Karate Kid franchise. “For now, we’ll say we’ve been looking forward to working with Thomas Ian Griffith for a long time and we were very patient with ourselves to find the right moment, and season 4 is that moment,” Netflix series co-creator Hayden Schlossberg told Deadline about Griffith’s return.
The character, as we know, was Kreese’s former war mate, and he even sent Kreese to Tahiti after the humiliating loss to Miyagi and Daniel LaRusso. Terry Silver could be the series’ new villain, based on hints dropped in the final scenes of season 3, in which we saw Kreese calling for reinforcements. His presence, as a martial arts expert, may present some significant challenges for Johnny and Daniel’s newly formed group. According to Jon Hurwitz (one of the show’s writers and executive producers), Silver’s backstory will play a significant role in this season. This occurred in Season 3 when we learned more about Kreese’s past in Vietnam and how his experiences shaped his ruthless personality.
What Do We Know So Far About the Story?

Last season was full of memorable moments, especially near the end, which left a lot of unanswered questions about what’s to come. In the U18 All Valley Karate Tournament, for example, Johnny Lawrence’s Eagle Fang and Daniel LaRusso’s Miyagi-do will bond as they attempt to dethrone Kreese’s Cobra Kai. Because Johnny and Daniel have always had a frenemy relationship, it is possible to predict that it will be difficult for them to collaborate and come up with a game plan that they will both agree on. Zabka shared his thoughts on how his character will approach the co-mentoring challenge in an interview with Collider. He stated that their history will force them to work extra hard to resolve issues and make this partnership a success.
There have also been a lot of “change of heart” moments in the previous season, which will most likely spice things up for the young cast. Hawk is back on Hawk’s side, while Robby embraces the opposing team led by Kreese. This will most likely have an impact on their interactions with other characters on the show who they previously considered allies. Samantha and Tory had a lot of rivalry in season 3, which will most likely continue in season 4. Hurwitz spoke with Deadline about the new feud between these beloved characters and how the upcoming season will be especially memorable for them.
In addition to what has already been mentioned about Terry Silver’s storyline, we may see a lot of moments this season between him and Kreese as they deal with their turbulent past, which was previously explored in the third season.
What are the titles of the episodes?
A complete list of all the episode titles is not yet available, but we do know about one of them. When production began in February, the Cobra Kai official social media pages shared the news online, along with a picture of the first episode’s script. The title is “Let’s Begin,” which may seem brief, but it is a sweet and exciting description of what we will see next.
Has Cobra Kai been renewed for a fifth season?

Season 5 of Cobra Kai is already in the works! Cobra Kai was officially renewed by Netflix for Season 5 in August 2021, well ahead of the Season 4 premiere. The announcement was made in the form of a tweet with the following text: “The dojo is about to be 5x as rad. Cobra Kai has been renewed for a 5th season.”
A subsequent Netflix press release revealed that the fifth season will begin filming in 2021:
“Netflix has renewed Cobra Kai, the series continuation of the iconic The Karate Kid film franchise, for a fifth season with production set to start in Atlanta this fall.”
The Cobra Kai Creators Are Working on a Wild-Sounding New Series
Counterbalance Entertainment, the company founded by Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, has announced its latest project with Sony Pictures Television (the studio behind Cobra Kai, where the trio’s company has an overall deal). Marc Fisher’s Washington Post article “Powerball mystery: Someone in this tiny town won $731 million” is being developed by Counterbalance and Sony. “Now everyone wants a piece of it” has been turned into a half-hour comedy.
