The singer-songwriter will dedicate 100% merchandise proceeds from Atlanta concert — the final show of her 2022 world tour — toward the scholarship amount

SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 26, 2021) – Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Clairo, announces the debut of her $20,000 “For Atlanta” Scholarship ahead of her world tour in 2022. The new scholarship — which is  available to students from Atlanta — celebrates the artist’s hometown and upcoming tour for her sophomore album, Sling. Clairo will award the $20,000 scholarship and all of the merchandise proceeds from the Atlanta show toward the winner’s education. Clairo will also bring the winner to her sold-out show in Atlanta.

The Atlanta native created the $20,000 scholarship as a way to remember her roots and thank her fans for their instrumental role in her career. The artist encourages her fans who attend the Atlanta show to purchase merchandise, as all proceeds will be donated toward the “For Atlanta” Scholarship. Clairo also invites others to join her in contributing to the scholarship at go.bold.org/clairo. To thank contributors, Clairo will send the top 10 contributors signed vinyl records of her Sling album. All scholarship contributions are tax deductible donations that will go directly to the winning student’s education.

Clairo says: “I’m excited to launch this scholarship with Bold.org. I can’t wait to read all the great application essays and award it to a student from my hometown, Atlanta.”

The $20,000 “For Atlanta” Scholarship is open to all high school and undergraduate students who are originally from Atlanta or are currently living in the city. Students can apply by writing a short essay about overcoming obstacles and how Clairo’s music inspires them or resonates with their life experiences.

Clairo joins a long line of athletes and public figures who make a point of supporting education, including other Bold.org scholarship sponsors such as NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Tyrell Terry, professional tennis player Sloane Stephens, producer and DJ 3LAU, NFL Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons, professional MMA fighter Cat Zingano, actress Jameela Jamil and actor Terry Crews.
