Cars on the Road officially comes to Disney+ on September 8th
In advance of Disney+ Day, Disney and Pixar have officially revealed the premiere date for a brand-new Cars mini-series called Cars on the Road. On September 8, 2022, the series will make its exclusive debut on Disney+. It will follow Lightning McQueen and Mater, his best buddy, as they travel across the country to the east to attend Mater’s sister’s wedding. As for the combo, Larry the Cabel Guy and Owen Wilson will return.
Favorites of the series, Lightning McQueen and Mater, will be followed in “Cars on the Road” as they travel across the nation to see Mater’s sister, who is getting married. On September 8, 2022, Disney+ Day, the series will make its formal debut. This will be followed by D23 Expo, The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. This event, which will be sponsored by Visa, will debut a variety of new works from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and other studios, according to Disney.
The nine episodes of Cars on the Road will be directed by Steve Purcell (Episodes 1, 2, and 8), Bobby Podesta (Episodes 5, 6, and 9), Brian Fee (Episodes 3, 4, and 7), with music by Jake Monaco. Marc Sondheimer, best known for his work on the critically acclaimed short film Piper, will produce the show.
Lightning and Mater run across a number of obstacles and adventures in the Cars on the Road trailer, including a car circus, an automatic dinosaur exhibit, a post-apocalyptic gang, a haunted mansion, a gladiator contest, and many more. In the first installment of the Cars film franchise, released in 2006, Lightning McQueen, a hotshot race car, is arrested in Radiator Springs, where he meets Mater and a number of other characters, including his girlfriend Sally and his mentor, Doc Hudson.
