Call of Duty Vanguard Crossover with Attack on Titan Indicated in Datamine

Call of Duty Vanguard is now available. Players can dive in on any available platform, including last-gen and current-gen, to learn more about the World War II-themed game. While we like what the game has to offer at the moment, we can’t help thinking about what’s next, especially with the Vanguard Attack on Titan rumour circulating.

Vanguard Attack on Titan Crossover Rumored

That’s right; if a recent datamining rumour is to be believed, we could be receiving a Vanguard vs. Attack on Titan crossover shortly. With the game currently in players’ hands, leakers have a goldmine of information to unearth about Vanguard’s backend.

Since Vanguard’s premiere last week, dataminers have been poring over the files in the title in search of future information and leaks. The most interesting and largest leak of them all is the Vanguard Attack on Titan rumour, which suggests that the WWII game will have crossover characters.

It all began last week with datamining by Twitter user Zesty, who shared several pieces of information they discovered shortly after the game’s launch. It started out as a basic tweet about possible new weaponry coming to the game in the near future, but swiftly morphed into something more.

They alluded to weapons such as the “Rindigo” and others that have been hinted at in the files and are expected to come in a subsequent season. While this is all well and good, the most concerning part was a subsequent tweet in which the person mentioned something that would later result in the Vanguard Attack on Titan rumour.

The Game Files Make Reference to a Sword Titan

They stated that one of the weapons in the files was a sword-style melee weapon, not the katana, which is also supposed to be coming to the game in the near future. Rather than that, it has the code name “swordtitan” and “aot swords,” which are also terrifying words.

The user even stated that the name immediately brought to mind Attack on Titan, popularly abbreviated as AOT. Then there’s the Sword Titan section, which is even more intriguing because the files contain the word titan, which adds to the mystery.

However, Twitter user Zesty described the entire scenario as a “tinfoil hat theory” they had in their head and not a genuine crossover. However, the speculations of a Vanguard vs. Attack on Titan crossover do not end there.

A more recent tweet surfaced from leaker Nanikos, who discussed the files they were able to locate. They, like Zesty, identified files referencing the Sword Titan weapon, but also unearthed more files that appear to allude to this hypothetical crossover.

Leaked Sword Images Look Quite Similar to Attack on Titan Weapons

Numerous multiplayer files with the name “aot titan” sound suspiciously like Attack on Titan, including one for an operator skin. They speculate that this could indicate that the Vanguard vs. Attack on Titan crossover is indeed real and imminent.

They believe that if the crossover is real, it will take place in December, coinciding with the start of Vanguard’s first season of content. That would be considerably sooner than the popular media crossovers we saw this year with Black Ops Cold War, such as the limited-time 80s Action Heroes event.

However, the most credible proof comes from an image supplied by Nanikos of a sword melee weapon that will very certainly be added to the game in the near future. The illustration depicts two swords that have been matched for the player and feature hilts with handles.

These swords bear a striking resemblance to the original ones wielded by the Attack on Titan characters in their battles with the titans in the manga and anime series. This virtually ensures the impending inclusion of an Attack on Titan crossover in the game.

Attack on Titan Crossover Could Coincide With Zombies Main Quest

While this would not be the first time Attack on Titan has collaborated with a video game that is not its own, such as several recent mobile games, it would be the first time the Call of Duty franchise has officially collaborated with an anime/manga.

To add to the intrigue, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch may have teased this crossover recently. As previously stated, the Zombies mode in Vanguard currently lacks a main mission, much to the chagrin of several gamers.

It will not be released until after the conclusion of Season 1, which begins in December. The exciting element is that it will occur concurrently with the arrival of a specific individual. That may have signified anything at the time, such as a prior Zombies character or a partner to assist in the mode.

However, with the Vanguard vs. Attack on Titan crossover appearing to be a possibility, there is a potential that Zombies’ main mission will arrive around the same time. While characters like Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and Armin are not pursuing the undead, but rather titans, there are some parallels. For the time being, we will have to wait and watch if this crossover occurs, so stay tuned for updates.
