    Caleb Swanigan, a former Purdue player, has passed away at the age of 25

    It is reported that former Purdue forward Caleb Swanigan has died at the age of 25.

    Swanigan’s death was allegedly ruled an accident by the Allen County coroner’s office.

    Swanigan spent his two years at Purdue focusing on general education and educational studies. His commencement year is 2019

    Caleb Swanigan’s death has “The Purdue basketball family is deeply saddened and devastated at the loss of Caleb Swanigan,” the Purdue basketball family, head coach Matt Painter said in a press release issued on Tuesday morning. “Caleb was a very thoughtful individual and a gentle soul who excelled both on and off the court. He made a huge difference in everyone’s lives that he touched and he will be greatly missed.”

    Swanigan was the Big Ten’s top player in 2017 and a finalist for the Wooden Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate basketball player.

    In 2017, he departed for the NBA Draft, when the Portland Trail Blazers selected him with the 26th overall choice.

    Biggie Swanigan, or Caleb Swanigan, would not have made it to Purdue without the help of his adopted father, Roosevelt Barnes.

    According to earlier Exponent reporting, the guy who helped him overcome his weight and provided him with a home is now helping him into the realm of professional basketball as he made the transition from West Lafayette to the demanding landscape of the NBA.

    Barnes told the Exponent that Swanigan was divided between continuing his education and trying out for the next level of the sport.

    The choice “was very close and tough for him,” Barnes said, back in the day.

    The opportunity to put his skills to the test in the NBA, though, seemed too tempting to pass up. Barnes acknowledged that it would be a difficult task, but he also expressed confidence in Swanigan’s ability to do it.

    He went on to say that the young man was only beginning to show his true potential. That is why I am pleased with his accomplishments thus far, but I am also aware of his boundless potential for growth.

    The 6-foot-8 rebounding workhorse attracted the attention of around 15 NBA teams.

    Swanigan was the first Purdue player to enter the NBA Draft before the regular deadline since Glenn Robinson in 1994.

    Swanigan spent three years as a professional basketball player. collaboration between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings.

    Roosevelt Barnes, a former Purdue player, adopted Swanigan after he had experienced early adversity and homelessness.
