Billy Strings has been named Bluegrass Entertainer of the Year
Billy Strings, a Grammy-winning bluegrass musician, was named entertainer of the year at the genre’s top awards show, a major accomplishment for the 28-year-old guitarist who beat out veteran performers.

Strings was also named guitar player of the year at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Bluegrass Music Awards on Thursday in Raleigh, North Carolina. Balsam Range, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, the Del McCoury Band, and The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys were among the nominees for entertainer of the year.
Strings, who is originally from Michigan, won a Grammy for his album “Home” in 2019 and has just released his second album for Rounder Records, an acoustic album called “Renewal.”
Appalachian Road Show also won multiple awards, including best new artist and instrumental group of the year. Sister Sadie won vocal group of the year, Balsam Range won song of the year for “Richest Man,” and the album of the year was “Industrial Strength Bluegrass: Southwestern Ohio’s Musical Legacy.”
