Billionaire MacKenzie Scott is divorcing her second Husband after two years
MacKenzie Scott, a billionaire philanthropist, has divorced her second husband of less than two years.
After divorcing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019, one of the world’s richest men, Scott, married Seattle-based science teacher Dan Jewett last year.
According to the King County Superior Court clerk’s office in Washington State, Scott filed for divorce on Monday.
On Wednesday, the story was first reported by The New York Times.
In 2021, the couple quietly announced their marriage on their Giving Pledge profile page, a charity organization that encourages the world’s richest people to donate the vast majority of their fortunes to worthy causes.
It seemed like Scott and Jewett had a dedication to helping others. Scott has already begun her goal to donate the vast majority of her wealth, having handed away billions of dollars so far.
In 2021, Jewett said on Giving Pledge, “I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know — and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others.” This endeavor with MacKenzie promises to be a great opportunity for personal development, and I can not wait to get started.
The Times reported on Wednesday that Jewett’s letter had been removed from the Giving Pledge website and that Ms. Scott had removed his name from a Medium article she had written about the couple’s donations a year earlier.
According to the New York Times, Scott, a novelist, removed Jewett’s name from her author bio on Amazon, the online retailer from which she earns the majority of her fortune.
