Beauty YouTuber James Charles reports losing over 30 million TikTok followers after a glitch
James Charles, a beauty YouTuber, stated that he appeared to lose over 30 million TikTok followers when a strange problem hit his account. James Charles, 23, is a YouTube beauty influencer who has amassed a following of 24 million people thanks to his makeup tutorials, challenges, and celebrity collaborations. That’s not even taking into account his massive following on other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where he has 36.2 million followers.
Fans were perplexed on May 3 when the influencer stated that he had lost the great majority of his TikTok followers without warning. “hello? Anyone there?” he wrote: “Me making TikToks and having 36 million followers that I love & appreciate. Somehow losing every single one of them.”
He attached a screenshot of his account in the second half of the video, showing that he only had five followers left. Viewers went to his page to see whether it was genuine, and many of them noted that the influencer had a rather low number of followers.
Others, though, began reporting that James’ follower count had been restored shortly after, but it’s still unclear what created the problem in the first place. It appears that it was only a display issue, based on how quickly his followers returned, but it sure managed to confuse his millions of followers.
