Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho have decided to leave TREASURE
It has been reported that Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho have left the K-pop band TREASURE.
YG Entertainment, the group’s record label, made the announcement on Tuesday, November 8 that the two members had ended their exclusive contracts with the company.
YG Entertainment confirmed the news in an announcement, saying that Bang Ye Dam was leaving to focus on his career as a producer and that Mashiho had left to prioritise his health.
The record label did not elaborate on the nature of Mashiho’s illness, but he and Bang Ye Dam had been absent from the group’s promotional activities since May 2022.
TREASURE will carry on with its original lineup of 10 members: Choi Hyun Suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae Hyuk, Asahi, Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jeong Woo, and So Jung Hwan.
After YG Entertainment formed the K-Pop boy band in 2019, its members were chosen via the reality competition show YG Treasure Box and the group made its debut the following year, in 2020.
The group has released several albums and EPs since their debut, the most recent being January 2021’s The First Step: Treasure Effect. In 2020, they dropped a four-part album series titled The First Step, and two years later, in 2022, they returned with a pair of extended plays titled The Second Step: Chapters One and Two.
TREASURE’s newest album, The Second Step: Chapter Two, came out on October 4, 2022. It does not feature Bang Ye Dam or Mashiho.
YG Entertainment announced in May 2022 that the two members would be taking a break from the group’s recent activities and tour due to “personal reasons,” and in July 2022, it was announced that the group would be promoting their new music as a 10-member band without the two members.
