“Ballerina’ – Ana De Armas-Led John Wick Spinoff to Begin Shooting This Summer”
During Lionsgate’s recent CinemaCon presentation, the studio officially revealed that filming on the first John Wick spin-off film Ballerina will begin this summer. Ana de Armas, the Golden Globe contender for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, has joined the project as the female lead.
The project was initially announced in 2019, following the theatrical release of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which gave us our first look at the Ballerina assassins being taught by the Ruska Roma syndicate, which is led by Anjelica Huston’s role.
Ballerina: Synopsis
Ballerina is a film about a teenage female assassin who seeks vengeance on those who murdered her family.
Ballerina: Cast
Len Wiseman will helm the film, which is based on a script by Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead). For Lionsgate, James Myers will be in charge of the project. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Keanu Reeves, and Chad Stahelski are producing the spin-off. In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, John (Keanu Reeves) encounters what appears to be the titular ballerina, or at the very least, the source of the new character.
Ballerina: Other Details
John Wick: Chapter 4 is now in post-production at Lionsgate and is set to hit theatres on March 24, 2023. The Continental, a prequel series set to premiere on Starz as a three-part limited series, is also in the works at the studio.
