Baby Yoda and Google celebrate Star Wars Day
Google Search has been taken over by Baby Yoda, a popular character from Disney+’s “The Mandalorian,” as part of a fun Easter egg that has fans ecstatic.
Google searches for “Grogu” or “Baby Yoda” reveal the presence of the little critter, also known as “Grogu,” in the screen’s bottom right corner. When you tap or click on him, he uses the Force to knock the top section of search results off the screen. If you keep selecting him, he will keep wreaking devastation on the screen.
Grogu, who co-stars with Pedro Pascal in “The Mandalorian,” has just wrapped filming on the show’s third season for Disney+. Since his inception as “The Child,” the character has gained a massive fan base and become a cultural phenomenon.
Grogu hijacks Google’s search results, much to the joy of his devoted following.
A Google representative stated that the Grogu search Easter egg was not sponsored, but that the business did consult with Disney to assure its correctness. This easter egg may be found in both mobile and desktop Google Search.
To quote the lead engineer on the project for Google, “Grogu is such a playful character and has amassed a huge following,” Lucas Bullen. “We wanted to recognize that and let fans interact with Grogu while he is practicing his Force skills on the Search page. We always enjoy adding these sorts of experiences for fans to stumble upon while using Google Search and as a Star Wars fan myself, working on this Easter Egg was a real treat.”
According to Lucasfilm, “mysterious child pursued by bounty hunters on behalf of Imperial interests, the foundling Grogu found protection with the Mandalorian Din Djarin. Through their adventures and journeys through the galaxy, young Grogu is honing remarkable abilities. Although he previously trained as a Jedi, Grogu has chosen to return to Din’s side and continues to share his adventures as they take a stand against the Imperial remnant.”
The delightful Easter egg on Google Search is just one more way for fans of Baby Yoda to keep up with his exploits, which they may read about in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”
