Avoid these mistakes to receive your tax refund swiftly

Here, we’ll explain you how to avoid the common errors that might cause your tax refund to be held up while the IRS investigates your claim for a refund.

    • Apply for a direct deposit while filing your taxes. It may take several weeks for you to get the cheque in the mail after requesting it be mailed to you.
    • When requesting a refund, double-check that you typed your bank account number in accurately and that you have the right account number written down.
    • When we’re in a rush to fill out an application, we don’t always double-check that all of our information is right. It’s possible for your tax refund to take many months to arrive if there are any issues with the documentation being sent to the IRS and their subsequent return of the application.
    • Prepare your tax documents ahead of time to speed up the procedure. You have until January 23 to put in your request. A higher demand from the public after this date may cause a delay in delivery to you.
    • It has been shown that when a request for a tax refund is sent to the ISR on paper, processing time increases. This is why filling out the form online at the ISR website is the preferred method.
    • Getting your tax refund might take days, if not weeks, if you fill out the form by hand.
    • Don’t make educated guesses with the numbers on the form. Don’t guess or use a rough estimate; always be as precise as possible. In such cases, the IRS is extremely meticulous and may reject the application outright if they see any discrepancies.
