“Avatar – The Last Airbender is Getting 3 Animated Films”
Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation have announced plans for three films set in the world of Nickelodeon’s hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Lauren Montgomery is currently set to direct the first Avatar film, though no title has been announced. Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, co-creators of Avatar, are producing alongside Eric Coleman, and the film will be produced by Avatar Studios.
“As original creators Mike and Bryan expand the Avatar universe with us, we’re keeping it all in the family,” said Ramsey Naito, President of Animation at Paramount and Nickelodeon Animation

From February 2005 to July 2008, Nickelodeon aired the original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series for three seasons. Throughout its run, it received numerous Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award.
The world is divided into four nations in the series: the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads, each of which is represented by a natural element after which the nation is named. Benders have the ability to control and manipulate their nation’s element. Only the Avatar can control all four elements. The ruthless Fire Nation wants to conquer the world, but the Avatar, the only bender with enough power to stop them, has vanished… until now. HisThe tribe quickly realises that Aang is the long-lost Avatar. Katara and Sokka must now protect Aang as he strives to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.
