Avatar 2: Release dates, Budget, and How long did it take to make

Avatar 2 will be launched on December 16th, 2022, after years of anticipation. Apart from the release date and title Avatar: The Way of Water, we don’t know much about the long-awaited sequel right now. Before Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which is set to be released online next week, a short teaser trailer is being screened in theaters, but it doesn’t reveal much about the plot. According to what many are saying on Twitter, the highly anticipated film is largely set underwater and features some incredible CGI and scenery. People had great expectations for the sequel to Avatar, which was the highest-grossing film of all time.

    AVATAR 2’S BUDGET IS JAW-DROPPING

According to Deadline, the four sequels to Avatar are likely to cost roughly $1 billion in total. Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 add up to that total. As a result, each sequel will have a budget of $250 million. According to Forbes, the original Avatar had a similar budget of roughly $240 million. While it may seem like a lot, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the most costly film ever made, costing $422 million.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO MAKE?

The first Avatar was released in December 2009, and ideas for sequels began almost immediately after it became a big success. That means Avatar 2 has been in the works for 13 years, but production didn’t begin until 2017, therefore the film took five years to complete. That isn’t only the case with the second picture; all of the Avatar sequels are being produced and filmed at the same time.

In 2010, James Cameron announced the first two sequels, as well as plans for two more. He’s been making and filming all the sequels at the same time since then, which is why it’s taken so long. The filmmaker said that he was shooting the remaining live-action scenes in New Zealand in September 2020. “We’re about 10% of the way there.” “We’re 100 percent finished with ‘Avatar 2’ and 95 percent finished with ‘Avatar 3,” he stated. James Cameron also mentioned that the film took a long time to make because it was mostly shot underwater.

RELEASE DATES FOR THE AVATAR SEQUEL

Although Avatar 2 took over a decade to make, the rest of the series will not be as long in coming. Avatar 3 is now scheduled for release on December 20th, 2024, Avatar 4 on December 18th, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22nd, 2028. Fans are hopeful that these release dates will not be pushed back because they have already been pushed back once.
