Ashley Judd treks the Swiss Alps almost six months after breaking her leg four places.

Ashley Judd has regained her ability to walk despite breaking her leg four places about six months ago.

On Sunday, the 53-year-old actress from “Double Jeopardy” took to Instagram to share more about her recuperation, saying that she was able to trek in the Swiss Alps and sharing photographs and videos of her experience.

“Dear Friends, it is with reverence and quite awe I offer this update,” Judd began. “Today, five months and three weeks after the accident in the Congolese rainforest, I walked again, and in what fashion! Stepping in, I felt in my ease, my natural garment of self, at home in my spirit. My leg and foot, worked beautifully.”

She said she was able to walk “confidently” for an hour in the mountains and “came down carefully and easily.” “This is the road ahead,” she said when she went out the next day in Ticino, Switzerland, and realised how much of her stamina she still needed to restore.

Judd went on to thank all of the doctors and nurses that helped her get to this point in her rehabilitation. Doctors had predicted that her foot would be able to move again in a year, “if ever,” yet she was able to do so four months later.

“My leg will never be the same,” she continued. “She is a new leg. And I love her. We are buddies. We have come a long way and we have a fabulous life ahead.”

“I have been loved and understood and helped in my healing,” Judd concluded. “Many of you have been praying for me, and sending me notes. Thank you. I have felt you. I especially have been held by family and my partner. Peace be with you.”

In February, the “Missing” actress was admitted to the hospital after suffering serious injuries while on a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Judd honored  the locals who helped save her leg — and possibly her life — at the time.
